Privacy policy
Last updated 27 July 2026. Crewd is for players aged 16 and over.
The short version
Crewd exists to help you find teammates. It stores what it needs to do that and nothing else. It has never sold anyone's data and never will — not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
Nothing you share with a teammate leaves your control until both of you say yes. Before that, nobody can reach you through Crewd.
What Crewd stores about you
- Your Steam ID, display name and avatar.
- Your Rust hours, total hours, and when your Steam account was created.
- Your Steam ban record — VAC bans, game bans, community and trade bans, and how long ago the most recent one was.
- Whether your Steam profile and game details are public.
Read when you sign in and cached so your profile loads without hammering Steam. Crewd cannot change any of it, and neither can you from here — that is what makes it worth showing.
- Your region, timezone, when you play, and what you are looking for in a group.
- Your bio, playstyle answers and prompt answers.
- Photos and clips you upload. Clips have their audio track removed and their metadata stripped before storage.
- Your date of birth, collected once to check you are old enough. It is never shown to anyone and cannot be edited.
- Your Discord account ID and username, and your display name and avatar if you have them.
- Nothing else. Crewd asks Discord for one permission — to read your username. It cannot see your email, your servers, your friends or your messages.
- Crewd keeps no Discord password and no Discord access key. It reads your username once, then throws the access away.
Stored encrypted. Connecting alone shares nothing — you turn sharing on separately, and can turn it off or disconnect at any time.
- Reports you file and blocks you make.
- The IP address and browser used to upload a photo or clip, kept so abuse can be traced.
- Moderator decisions about an account, kept as a record even after that account is gone — an audit trail that disappears with the account it describes is not an audit trail.
Who can see what
- Anyone signed in can see your profile: your name, avatar, region, Steam hours and account age, ban record, photos, clips, prompt answers, playstyle and availability.
- Only people you match with get a way to contact you, and only the channels you chose to share. You pick those in account settings.
- Nobody sees your date of birth, your exact age, or your Discord account ID. Your Discord username goes only to people you have matched with, and only if you turned that on.
- Moderators can see reported content and the account it belongs to.
What Crewd does not do
- No selling, licensing or sharing of your data with data brokers, ad networks or analytics companies.
- No behavioural advertising, and none at all aimed at under-18s.
- No public “cheater” labels. Crewd reports what Steam says about bans and nothing more — it never accuses anyone of anything.
- No messaging you on Discord. Crewd never contacts you there.
- No use of your Discord information to decide who you are shown or who sees you.
Deleting things
You can delete a photo or clip, disconnect Discord, or turn off sharing yourself, whenever you like — those take effect immediately. Disconnecting Discord deletes the username and account ID from Crewd.
For anything else — a copy of your data, a correction, or deleting your account — file a request and a human will action it. Crewd holds no email address for you, so the answer comes back in the app.
One honest limitation: if you remove Crewd's access from Discord's own settings rather than disconnecting here, Discord doesn't tell us, so your username stays stored until you disconnect it in Crewd or ask us to remove it.
Where it lives, and how long
Data is held in a Postgres database and object storage hosted on Railway in the United States. Linked-account details are encrypted at rest.
Content a moderator removes is moved to quarantine rather than deleted, so it still exists if the decision is appealed or if we are legally required to produce it.
Third parties
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what Crewd stores or who can see it, the date at the top changes and the app will say so. It will never change retroactively to cover something Crewd already did.
